About this experience

The Children’s Eternal Rainforest (BEN) covers more than 22,000 hectares of primary and secondary forest and areas that are regenerating. What sets it apart is its history: children, adults, schools and organisations from more than 44 countries came together to protect it.

Today it is managed by the non-profit Monteverde Conservation League and is the largest private reserve in Costa Rica. Beyond protecting biodiversity, it works on reforestation, research, environmental education and sustainable ecotourism, with trails, talks and biological stations.

BEN is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve “Agua y Paz” and a founding member of the Costa Rican Private Reserves Network.
